RESEARCH PROPOSAL

4.- Expected Findings

The results of these experiments will provide us with statistical data to determine the following:

a) The effects of various environmental oxygen concentrations on maximum and average life span for various species of animals.

b) Influence of respiration in air composition

c) Effects of different environmental oxygen concentration in total body length, period of growth and period of cessation of growth.

d) Effects of retardation of body growth in maximum and average life span.

e) Effects of environmental oxygen when applied in three different periods of life:

1. - Low oxygen is applied from birth

2. - Low oxygen is applied in middle life

3. - Low oxygen is applied in old age.

Increased oxygen is expected to affect life span negatively. The more oxygen, the lower the life spans. Animals living in lower oxygen habitats since birth are expected to grow for greater periods and to live longer than those animals living in low oxygen pressure areas a part period of their lives.
